September Search News September Search News

Once again it has been a busy month for the team here at Verve! We have started to bring jumpers into the office as well with autumn on its way! This month the world of search has bought us updates on how focusing on your content intent should be priority, why paid and organic traffic still lead the way and the launch of Facebook now allowing posts to be scheduled through the social media giant’s site. Read on to find out more!

    Focus On Your Content Intent

Marketers should be focusing more on ‘intent’ and by that we mean ‘creation intent.’ We should be consistently focusing on what people are looking for and why we are creating what we are creating. If these two elements match up then we are onto a winner!

Of course getting your SEO right also plays an important factor, it is vital to ensure that you are including your keywords and backlinks, which will increase chances of ranking highly.

But your intent should always be the building blocks for the content that you are creating. Otherwise, what is the point? You are supplying people with information that they don’t want or need, reducing your clicks and readership.

Organic and Paid Traffic Still Lead the Way

A new study that has been conducted by BrightEdge has revealed that organic and paid search drive far more traffic to websites than other channels do. This includes social and display advertising. BrightEdge’s study revealed that paid and organic drive almost 70% of all trackable website traffic. So guys! Time to get serious about your SEO and Google Ads!

Google Starting to Show Fewer Review Stars in Search Results

Recently Google announced that it was launching an algorithm update that would tighten the rules around when a review rich result is shown for a snippet.

To ensure that you aren’t affected by this new update then it is important to review these new rules, and to make sure that your pages and schema comply with the new rules which will ensure that your pages continue to show the stars. These new rules may affect your CTR so it is vital to check that you are complying to avoid any loss of traffic!

Instagram Posts Can Now Be Scheduled in Advance Through Facebook

Good news for busy and eager business Instagrammers! Instagram posts can now be scheduled to publish at a later time using Facebook’s Creator Studio.

They can be scheduled up to 6 months in advance and this new tool marks the first time that this functionality can be used within Facebook and not via a third party.

The functionality isn’t immediately available to everyone, and there are a few requirements that you must meet before being able to use this tool. You must have a Facebook Business Account, have an Instagram Business or Creator Account and your Instagram Account must be linked through to your Facebook Page. But as long as you tick these boxes then you’re good to go! By the way, don’t forget to follow us on Instagram!

So that is all for this month! Don’t forget to catch up with us next month to keep on top of everything new in the SEO land!
